SiriusXM Pandora is offering an audio simulcast of the Weather Channel’s coverage of Hurricane Ian as the storm makes landfall along the western coast of Florida.

The storm made landfall in the suburban area north of Fort Myers on Wednesday, bringing torrential downpours and sustained winds in excess of 150 miles per hour.

To help affected residents and businesses stay informed during the storm, SiriusXM is simulcasting the Weather Channel’s ongoing coverage of Hurricane Ian on Channel 134, which is available on all SiriusXM radios, including older-model Sirius and XM platform-specific hardware.

An audio stream of the Weather Channel’s coverage is also available on SiriusXM’s streaming radio channel. Current subscribers have immediate access to the channel, while those who don’t have a SiriusXM subscription can take advantage of a special, three-month free trial in order to stream the Weather Channel’s coverage and hundreds of other SiriusXM channels.

The audio feeds could help hundreds of thousands of people stay informed as the Category 4 hurricane knocks out critical communications infrastructure throughout Florida. More than 800,000 people are without electrical service as of Wednesday afternoon, and around 25,000 cable, landline phone and Internet customers are disconnected due to the storm. Both numbers are likely to grow in the coming hours and days.
