Wallet-friendly service Philo is inviting subscribers to sit around the “Philo-place” and stream its new Yule Log.
The hour-long, on-demand stream is a great alternative for Philo subscribers who might not have a fireplace of their own, but still want all the benefits of a warm, cozy fire for the holidays.
The Philo Yule Log is similar to the one that debuted on New York City television station WPIX (Channel 11) early Christmas morning from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s. The tradition has been replicated by television stations across the country, with most running video of burning wood in a fireplace for two to four hours, backed by a soundtrack of Christmas music.
The Philo Yule Log doesn’t have a backing soundtrack, probably due to rights issues, but streamers can play their own holiday soundtrack from their phone or smart speakers while the Yule Log plays in the background over the Christmas holiday weekend.
