Dish Network’s streaming cable replacement Sling TV is now available on some Amazon Echo Show smart screen devices, the company said this week.
The launch brings Sling TV in front of more Amazon Echo Show device users about a year after the service was first made available on the Amazon Echo Show 15, the largest smart screen offered by the tech company.
This week, Sling TV can now be accessed on the smaller Amazon Echo Show 8 and Amazon Echo Show 10 smart screens. Users can simply say “Alexa, open Sling TV” to launch the app, and then log in with their Sling TV credentials to watch any channel supported on the service.
The second-generation Amazon Echo Show 8 costs $130 (free same-day delivery in most areas for Amazon Prime members) and offers access to Sling TV, Amazon’s Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, DailyMotion, Tubi and other streaming video apps. And, just like Amazon’s popular line of Echo smart speakers, Echo Show users can use Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa to complete numerous routine tasks — from dropping in on their Ring-brand smart doorbells, turning on and off smart lights, looking up sports scores, tuning in to free radio streams and more.
The third-generation Amazon Echo Show 10 costs $250, comes with a high-definition screen and offers premium sound from high-fidelity, built-in speakers. Like the smaller Echo Show 8, the Echo Show 10 lets users stream live and on-demand TV from a number of apps, including Sling TV, along with other functions through Alexa commands.
The larger Amazon Echo Show 15 costs $280 and is a great way to show off family photos, keep on top of scheduled tasks and send notes to other family members. Like the other two devices, it also allows users to stream video from supported apps, and even comes with a remote control to make navigating video options a bit easier.
Sling TV offers two base subscription packages with dozens of channels for just $40 a month. The Sling Orange package offers the Disney Channel, ESPN and Freeform, while Sling Blue unlocks the Fox News Channel, FX, Bravo, E! and MSNBC. Both packages include CNN, AMC, TNT, TBS, Foox Network, Lifetime and other cable news, sports and entertainment channels.
