LG has announced a new camera attachment for its webOS-powered smart TV sets.
The new device, called Smart Cam, allows users of LG’s smart TV sets to conduct video conference calls, play interactive games and get personalized fitness workouts from the biggest screen in their homes.
The camera connects to the top and back of an LG-brand smart TV set using conspicuous magnets. Smart Cam offers a lens capable of capturing full high-definition video (1920 x 1080 resolution), and two integrated microphones for conference calling through popular services like Zoom, Skype and LG’s own RemoteMeeting app.
Fitness buffs can use the Smart Cam to work out from the comfort of their living rooms, with interactive training sessions offered through the Exercite app. Exercite uses machine learning to suggest modifications during workouts for optimal fitness.
LG says the Smart Cam will also support interactive services like the selfie app Fun Mirror and dance tutorial 1M HomeDance.
The LG Smart Cam retails for $100 and is available to purchase at Best Buy right now in the United States, and at electronics retailers around the world.
