Paramount’s Pluto TV comes to Virgin Media boxes

Paramount Global’s free, ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV is now available to customers of Virgin Media in the United Kingdom.

The service launched over the weekend to users of Virgin TV 360 or Virgin Stream, unlocking more than 100 linear streams of free-to-access TV shows, documentaries, movies, children’s programming and news, along with thousands of hours of on-demand titles.

“We are glad to continue to collaborate with Virgin Media to bring Pluto TV content to a wider audience in the UK,” Olivier Jollet, the executive vice president of Pluto TV’s international operations, said in a statement. “The partnership with Virgin Media is the best example of our successful collaborations with [pay TV companies] to enlarge our distribution footprint and support our ambitious growth plans for Pluto TV.”

Among the content available on Pluto TV in the United Kingdom is “The Drew Barrymore Show,” “CSI” and “Cops.” Some content streams carry the branding of Channel 5, a British free-to-air network that Paramount’s predecessor Viacom acquired in 2014.

The launch of Pluto TV on Virgin Media boxes comes shortly after the service added six new linear content streams, including “My 5 Documentaries,” “Pluto TV Stand-Up” and “My 5 Crime.”

In addition to Virgin Media boxes, Pluto TV is available as a free download on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV (Google TV) and Comcast’s Now TV.
