Paramount Global’s free streaming service Pluto TV is adding more linear content channels from the BBC.
Starting this week, regional variants of Pluto TV will offer the BBC’s Top Gear FAST channel, allowing streamers in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France to watch episodes from the popular automotive program.
The channel adds to a growing slate of BBC-produced content streams already offered on Pluto TV in Europe, including BBC Food, BBC Travel, BBC History and a marathon channel of Doctor Who.
“Top Gear has captivated viewers for decades with its unique blend of entertainment and automotive expertise,” Katrina Kowalski, the senior vice president of international content programming at Pluto TV, said in a statement. “Adding the legendary Top Gear experience to Pluto TV across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France enhances our viewers’ entertainment options, adding an iconic channel to our already diverse and strong content line up.”
The content streams are being produced by BBC Studios, the global commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation, which generates supplemental revenue for the BBC’s domestic and international operations.
“Top Gear is an enduring icon in the world of motoring entertainment,” Kasia Jablonska, the head of video on-demand programming at BBC Studios, said this week. “It’s with great enthusiasm that we now extend our reach to five new [European] markets, sharing this exceptional content with our audiences in a new way. FAST is a great medium to bring treasured series from our rich content catalog to new and loyal audiences.”
