One year after SiriusXM shut down its Garth Brooks-led channel “The Garth Channel,” Brooks and streaming platform TuneIn are bringing the channel back to country music fans.
At an event in Nashville on Monday, Brooks and TuneIn announced the reboot of the fan-favorite channel, which will now be available as a free, worldwide streaming radio station.
“My favorite thing about the return of The Garth Channel is the fact it is global and that it’s free,” Brooks said in a statement Monday morning. “The channel was always about people loving people, but now it’s people loving people around the globe.”
The Garth Channel is part of Brooks’ SEVENS Radio Network, which has an exclusive partnership with TuneIn for its streaming audio stations. The reboot of the channel comes several months after Brooks and TuneIn launched a number of country-specific stations, including “The Big 615” and “Tailgate Radio.”
“The demand for The Garth Channel has been overwhelming,” Richard Stern, the CEO of TuneIn, said this week. “Fans crave connection with their favorite artists. With Garth, we have created a bespoke listening experience that combines storytelling and music that’s unlike any other in the audio landscape bringing fans closer to Brooks. And we think listeners are going to love the new and improved Garth Channel even more than before. It’s bigger, better and global.”
TuneIn says it reaches more than 75 million consumers across 200 audio platforms and streaming devices each month. The service is available around the world.
