A rematch between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles was definitely America’s “Game of the Week” for Fox.
On Tuesday, the network said it grabbed over 27.7 million viewers for the match-up, which saw the teams square off for the first time since last season’s National Football Conference (NFC) championship game.
In January, the Philadelphia Eagles dominated over the San Francisco 49ers at home, with a score of 7-31 and clinching a spot in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs. Things went very differently for the Eagles on Sunday, with the hometown favorites falling to the 49ers with a final score of 42-19.

The near-blowout hardly curbed the appetites of football fans from coast to coast, with Fox Sports boasting its best ratings for a post-Thanksgiving game and the most-viewed game on the network this season. Surprisingly, the game also drew more viewers than Fox’s Thanksgiving match-up between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions, which grabbed 27.14 million viewers and was the second highest-rated National Football League (NFL) game that holiday.
The 49ers-Eagles game was also a rare win for Fox over NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” telecast, which drew 25.8 million viewers on broadcast and streaming TV for their match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers, according to the network.
