Nexstar Media Group may switch offices in New York City after signing a new lease agreement at a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan, The Desk has learned.

The Texas-based company recently signed an agreement to occupy more than 68,000 square feet on the 7th floor of 1301 Avenue of the Americas, a skyscraper owned by Paramount Group (no relation to broadcaster Paramount Global).

That office space was previously occupied by an insurance and tax firm, which vacated the building last year. The space is not wired for television production, according to a person familiar with the situation, which means it will almost certainly be used by Nexstar executives for non-broadcast purposes.

To that end, Nexstar currently leases space at 685 Third Avenue, occupying the 7th floor of the office tower. The New York office helps facilitate certain entertainment-related transactions between Nexstar and its various programming partners, as well as certain litigation-related matters.

Nexstar is the largest independent owner of broadcast television stations affiliated with ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. It owns around 160 licensed broadcast stations across the country, and operates another 40 through local marketing agreements with other companies.

In New York, Nexstar operates WPIX-TV (Channel 11, CW) through a local marketing agreement with Mission Broadcasting, another Texas-based broadcast company whose entire station portfolio is controlled by Nexstar.
