Dish Network’s streaming cable television replacement Sling TV is launching a rewards program that will offer incentives like cash prizes to customers who stream content through the service, the company announced on Tuesday.

The program, which is rolling out to “select Sling subscribers” through mid-February, is characterized as a “watch-and-win sweepstakes” contest that will result in cash prizes to streamers who watch television shows and movies on Sling TV-carried channels.

“Sling is the most flexible streaming service on the market. We designed it to put our customers in control of their entertainment,” Gary Schanman, the group president of Dish Video Services, said in a statement. “We’re obsessed with making SLING the best and most fun experience possible. That’s why we launched our first-ever rewards program. There are lots of different ways to earn entries and compete for thousands of dollars in prizes. Who wouldn’t want to get paid to watch the TV they love!”

Dish didn’t reveal which customers would be eligible for the rewards program, except to say that the first phase of the program is rolling out on an invite-only basis to subscribers of Sling’s core programming packages: Sling Orange, Sling Blue and Sling Orange & Blue. The core Sling Orange and Sling Blue packages start at $40 per month, while Sling Orange & Blue starts at $55 per month.

“The rewards program will roll out in additional phases to more users across the country, making it available to every subscriber soon,” a Dish spokesperson confirmed.

Eligible customers who enroll in the rewards program will receive one contest entry for watching at least 30 minutes of content each day. If they watch 30 minutes of content on multiple, consecutive days, they’ll receive bonus entries, up to seven consecutive days.

For the initial sweepstakes, Dish is offering Sling TV customers more than 30 cash prizes totaling $25,000, including:

  • One grand prize winner: $5,000
  • 2 winners: $2,000 each
  • 3 winners: $1,000 each
  • 26 winners: $500 each

Winners will be notified on February 20, the company said.

“We care about our customers. That’s why we tailored Sling to be versatile, with straightforward base packages and add-on packs that subscribers can tailor to match their personal interests,” Schanman said. “People should pay for the content they want to watch, not for bloated packages they don’t need. We’re excited to begin rewarding them with this program. We’re going to roll it out more broadly and you can be sure we’ll expand the program soon to offer even more cash and prizes.”
