Consumer tech publication KnowTechie has named Nuvyyo’s fourth-generation Tablo digital broadcast TV tuner and DVR as one of its must-have TV accessories of the year.
Tablo is a digital TV tuner that brings free, over-the-air broadcast television to the world of streaming. When paired with a conventional TV antenna, Tablo allows users to watch and record live TV channels on their smart devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV and most popular smartphones and tablets.
In most areas, users can pull in their local ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and CW Network affiliates and PBS member stations with just an antenna, though channel availability varies by location.
The fourth-generation Tablo DVR sets itself apart from the competition by incorporating dozens of free, ad-supported streaming channels within the same electronic program guide where users can find their local broadcast channels.
There are no monthly or annual fees connected to the fourth-generation Tablo DVR.
KnowTechie said it liked that the fourth-generation Tablo DVR offered key features like the ability to pause and record live television, along with its on-board flash storage that allows users to store up to 50 hours of high-definition programming. The publication said it was a good option for TV fans who want access to their local news and sports.
The fourth-generation Tablo DVR is available to buy at the Tablo website, at Amazon.com and at most Best Buy retail stores. The Tablo DVR supports Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV streaming devices, and Android and Apple phones and tablets. Support for Apple TV, Vizio, LG and Samsung smart TVs are in the works.
The fourth-generation Tablo DVR comes in two models: A two-tuner version that allows users to watch and record programming from two live channels at once, with a retail price of $100. A premium model that ups the number of simultaneous streams to four is exclusively sold at Best Buy and costs $140.
