Fox Sports grabbed the highest domestic telecast ratings for a UEFA Euro tournament on record, with more than 6.43 million viewers tuning in to watch Spain defeat England for the UEFA European Championship, according to Nielsen data.
It was the first time Fox Sports offered the tournament and championship game in the U.S. ESPN previously held the rights to the tournament. Overall, the tournament averaged 1.675 million viewers across Fox and cable channel FS1, making it the most-watched English-language broadcast of the tournament in U.S. television history.
Argentina’s win over Colombia in the CONMEBOL Copa América Championship also broke a record, grabbing 6.019 million viewers to become the highest-rated English-language U.S. telecast of the event. Overall, games aired on Fox, FS1 and FS2 saw an average audience of 1.418 million viewers, the broadcaster said.
On the streaming side, Fox said the UEFA Euro tournament was the most-streamed soccer tournament since the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup, grabbing an average minute audience (AMA) of 227,000, according to Adobe Analytics. The Copa America final on Fox saw an even bigger streaming audience, with an AMA of 338,000, according to the network.
The top markets for both finals, in no particular order, were San Francisco, Miami, West Palm Beach, New York and San Diego, Fox said. The network owns the local Fox broadcast outlet in three of those markets — New York, San Francisco and West Palm Beach.
