Global television studio and media distribution firm FilmRise has promoted Katherine Weinstein to the role of Director of Content Sales & Distribution, starting this week.

In her new role, Weinstein will be responsible for expanding certain advertisement video on-demand (AVOD) accounts, nurturing client relationships through proactive content pitching, cultivating partnerships, expanding FilmRise’s presence on selected partner platforms, and analyzing crucial performance metrics to inform sales strategies, FilmRise said in a media release on Monday.

Weinstein joined FilmRise three years ago as the company’s Manager of Content Acquisitions. She will report to  Daniel Gagliardi, the Vice President of Content Sales & Distribution; her promotion was announced Monday by Melissa Wohl, the Senior Vice President of Global Content Sales & Distribution.

“Katherine has demonstrated remarkable initiative, passion, and determination during her tenure at FilmRise,” Wohl said in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our content sales department. Her extensive knowledge of the company’s mission and operations will undoubtedly enhance her already impressive expertise.”

In her prior role, Weinstein successfully negotiated multi-platform and multi-territory distribution rights to shows like “The Wiggles,” “Z Nation TV” and “Corner Gas TV,” with the shows available on leading AVOD, subscription video on-demand (SVOD) and free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platforms.

She joined FilmRise in 2021 after serving as the OTT Content Acquisition Team Lead and Acquisitions and Content Strategy Specialist at Discovery, Inc. (now Warner Bros Discovery). Prior to her work at Discovery, she was a content acquisition specialist at DLA, Inc.
