Fox News Media’s free streaming channel Fox Weather has hired veteran meteorologist Mike Seidel away from The Weather Channel, where he will serve in the same role while also taking on the added position of “storm specialist,” the company announced on Monday.

Fox wasted no time in tapping Seidel’s expertise and talent, using him to help Fox Weather cover Hurricane Debby (then Tropical Storm Debby) as it approached and eventually made landfall in Florida over the weekend.

“We are thrilled to add Mike to our outstanding lineup of meteorologists at Fox Weather as we move into the peak of hurricane season,” Sharri Berg, the President of Fox Weather, said in a statement. “His decades of experience will prove to be invaluable as we continue to grow our best-in-class weather network.”

Seidel joins Fox Weather after spending three decades with The Weather Chanel, where he logged more than 25,000 live broadcasts while covering nearly every major story on record, including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ian, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irene, tornado outbreaks, blizzards, flooding and other severe weather.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my passion for storm coverage on Fox Weather, especially with the forecast of a very busy hurricane season,” Seidel said on Monday.

Also on Monday, Fox News Media announced it was expanding distribution of Fox Weather to Pluto TV, the Paramount-owned free streaming platform. Pluto TV already offers LiveNow from Fox, which is produced and distributed by co-owned Fox Television Stations.

In addition to Pluto TV, Fox Weather is available through most popular free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platforms, including Fox’s own Tubi, The Roku Channel, Comcast and Charter’s Xumo Play and YouTube, as well as premium streaming TV experiences like Dish Network’s Sling TV, Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV and DirecTV Stream.

Fox News Media and Fox Television Stations are separate businesses units owned by Fox Corporation.
