Comcast and Paramount Global’s streaming joint venture Sky Showtime has struck a deal with A1 Group to distribute the service on its cable television platform in several Central European countries.

Starting this month, Sky Showtime will become available as a streaming option on A1’s cable and broadband platforms in Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and North Macedonia, the companies said.

The partnership is unique in that it will also see the launch of two linear TV channels that are branded as Sky Showtime. The channels, Sky Showtime 1 and Sky Showtime 2, will offer the same content as the Sky Showtime app, which includes shows and movies from Paramount Pictures, Paramount Plus, Peacock, NBC, Universal Pictures, Dreamworks Animation, MTV, Nickelodeon and BET.

“We are proud that A1 Group is evolving into a super-aggregator of content, expanding our portfolio to provide customers with more opportunities to enjoy a diverse range of entertainment,” Enis Filazafovitch, the Director of International Business at A1 Group, said in a statement. “The partnership with Sky Showtime is a key milestone, and A1 Bulgaria is the first operator in five of our markets to offer access to the Sky Showtime platform along with two new premium TV channels – Sky Showtime 1 and Sky Showtime 2.”

“We are continuing to look at ways to expand Sky Showtime’s offering in Central Eastern Europe, bringing audiences across the region the best entertainment, all in one place and at a great price,” Hristina Georgieva, the Chief Business Officer at Sky Showtime, said on Monday. “This multi-territory deal with A1 means even more people will have the chance to enjoy the blockbuster movies, global hit series and original programming that is available to stream on Sky Showtime.”

A1 Group, also known as A1 Telekom Austria Group, is a subsidiary of Mexican telecommunications giant American Movil.
