Altice USA says its 500,000th residential customer activated broadband Internet service on its pure fiber network this month.

The service, sold under the Optimum brand, reaches nearly 3 million homes across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, where Altice USA is able to provide multi-gigabit speeds of up to 8 Gigabits per second.

Optimum also offers access to traditional TV, home phone and wireless phone services, which can be bundled with its fiber broadband Internet service.

“At Optimum, our local teams have been hard at work transforming our fiber network, products, and experiences to deliver the very best services and support to customers across the communities we serve,” Dennis Mathew, the Chairman and CEO of Optimum, said in a statement. “We have been doubling down on the acceleration of our 100 percent fiber Internet network deployment, working to drive it deeper into our communities and enabling more adoption of these award-winning services to make us the provider of choice among consumers in each market across our footprint.”

This year, Optimum spent more than $40 million investing in its fiber network on Long Island, and committed millions more to reach more customers across its Northeastern U.S. service footprint.

The effort has paid off for Altice USA, with measurement firm Ookla ranking Optimum Fiber as having the fastest and most-reliable broadband Internet speeds in New York and New Jersey.

“Today’s milestone is a testament to the progress we have been working towards, and a vision for what Optimum Fiber’s network looks like today and into the future – best-in-class connectivity services powered by a best-in-class fiber network,” Mathew said.
