TuneIn has inked a deal with Spanish Broadcasting System to bring its popular New York City radio station WSKQ-FM to the streaming audio platform’s premium subscribers.

Starting this week, TuneIn Premium users can stream music and related programming from WSKQ (97.9 FM, “Mega 97.9”) via the TuneIn app on their phones, tablets, smart speakers and other devices.

“Mega 97.9 has the pulse on Latin culture, bringing our vibrant community together through music, entertainment and conversation,” said Raúl Alarcón, the Chairman and CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System. “TuneIn’s extensive distribution network allows us to reach even more listeners with non-stop music and entertainment.”

Citing Nielsen data, TuneIn said 97 percent of Hispanic-identifying people in the United States listen to radio in some form each month, which “demonstrates the significance of Spanish-language radio stations like Mega 97.9 to the Hispanic community, comprising over 63 million people in the U.S.,” the company said.

“Mega 97.9 is one of the most popular radio stations in the largest radio market. It has consistently ranked among the most listened-to stations across the country with a huge loyal audience,” said TuneIn CEO Rich Stern. “We’re excited to partner with Spanish Broadcasting System to expand our premium offerings and bring listeners uninterrupted access to high-quality audio experiences.”

Other content available to TuneIn Premium subscribers include ad-free audio simulcasts of CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, ESPN Radio and Fox News Radio, along with thousands of audiobooks and podcasts.
