Comcast’s NBC Universal this week renewed its affiliation agreements with two major local television broadcasters that will keep NBC news, sports and entertainment programming on dozens of stations for a few more years.

On Monday, the E. W. Scripps Company said its new affiliation agreement with NBC Universal will allow 11 TV stations to continue broadcasting NBC for several more years.

“This expanded agreement recognizes our decades-long partnership with NBC as well as the importance of our TV stations in providing trusted local news reporting, emergency weather alerts and community coverage to these markets,” Dean Littleton, the Executive Vice President of Media Broadcast Operations at Scripps, said in a statement. “Moreover, it illustrates the ongoing strength of the network-affiliate model and the enduring value of our local stations.”

“We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with Scripps, bringing their viewers the leading broadcast network and vital entertainment, news and sports content,” said Phil Martzolf, the President of Affiliate Relations at NBC Universal. “As we enter 2025 and look forward to exciting programming like the NBA, we will continue to work with our partners to innovate our NBC offerings on behalf of viewers nationwide.”

By Wednesday, Nexstar Media Group was out with an announcement of its own, saying NBC programming will remain on 33 of its owned or operated stations across the country after it renewed a distribution agreement with NBC Universal as well.

Nexstar says its affiliation agreement covers 29 of its own stations, as well as three stations owned by Mission Broadcasting and one licensed to White Knight Broadcasting. Nexstar operates stations owned by Mission and White Knight through local marketing agreements.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
