Warner Bros Discovery’s (WBD) cable news channel CNN has poached a long-time Washington Post journalist to lead its editorial strategy, the company announced on Tuesday.

Philip Rucker will join the network as its Senior Vice President of Editorial Strategy and News; he was selected in part for his deep expertise on President Donald Trump, having covered his first presidential administration during his nearly 20-year career at the Washington Post, the network said in a press release.

Rucker served on news teams at the Washington Post that went on to win three Pulitzer Prizes: One in 2014 for national reporting on the AR-15 automatic assault rifle, another in 2018 for pieces that examined Russia’s interference in the U.S. election and the third in 2022 for coverage of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Rucker starts at CNN on February 10. He will continue to work out of Washington, D.C., the network said.
