Amazon’s streaming television platform Prime Video will offer the early back catalog of the hit NBC reality series “The Apprentice,” starting this week.
The show will stream via Prime Video in the United States only, with episodes from Season 1 available to watch this week. New seasons will be added in the coming weeks — one complete season will debut every Monday — through April 27.
Only seven of the show’s 15 seasons will be available on Prime Video, the company affirmed on Monday. Previously, all episodes of The Apprentice were available on Tubi, which offered the show in 2019, one year before the free service was acquired by Fox Corporation.
The show pushed Donald Trump into the national spotlight, and helped make him a household name associated with entrepreneurship and business. Trump was sworn into a second, non-consecutive term as U.S. president in January.
“The Apprentice is one of the best shows that I ever produced,” Mark Burnett, the showrunner for the Trump era of the program, said in a statement. “The charismatic onscreen presence of President Donald J. Trump made it a bona fide hit. Now, thanks to Prime Video, a whole new audience will experience a new season every Monday.”
Burnett called The Apprentice a “love letter to New York City” — the program took place mostly in Manhattan, and saw entrepreneurs compete among themselves for the opportunity to snag $250,000 and a contract to promote one of Trump’s numerous properties. Later seasons of the program saw celebrities compete for cash awards that were donated to the charities of their choosing. Trump dismissed competitors with his signature phrase, “You’re fired.”
“I look forward to watching this show myself — such great memories, and so much fun, but most importantly, it was a learning experience for all of us,” Trump said in a statement.
MGM Studios has the domestic distribution rights to The Apprentice. Amazon acquired MGM for $8.5 billion three years ago.
Prime Video is included with a membership to Amazon Prime, which costs $15 per month after a free 30-day trial. Prime Video is also available as a standalone subscription, starting at $9 per month.
