Everyone TV, the media consortium backed by the United Kingdom’s four main public service broadcasters (PSBs), has added more channels to its free streaming service Freely TV.
Many of the channels being launched on Freely are also available on the platforms of ITV, Channel 4 and Paramount-owned Five; their availability on Freely aims to make it easier for British TV fans to search for content across traditional linear and streaming channels, without having to switch apps or platforms.
The new channels being launched this week include:
- From ITV: The Chase, Saturday Night Every Night
- From Channel 4: 4Reality (exclusive), 4Homes (exclusive), 4Life (working title, exclusive)
- From Five: 5 Police Interceptors, 5 Cops, 5 A&E, 5 GPs Behind Closed Doors (exclusive), 5 The Yorkshire Vet (exclusive), 5 History (exclusive) 5 Dogs Behaving Very Badly (exclusive), Milkshake! (exclusive)
The additional content streams boost the availability of channels on Freely to over 55 delivered over broadband, with 70,000 hours of on-demand content also accessible through the platform.
“At ITV, we’re proud to be part of Freely and making these channels available to the Freely TV Guide reinforces our commitment to delivering fantastic, free content through this innovative platform and showcases our continued collaboration with other leading UK broadcasters,” Akhila Khanna, ITV’s Director of Distribution, said in a statement.
“The launch of new streamed channels further accelerates our transformation into the streaming age and will help keep our trusted, brand safe content free for everyone,” Grace Boswood, the Director of Technology and Distribution at Channel 4, said this week. “As the only place to access our new channels at launch, Freely continues to represent brilliant collaboration by public service media.”
“We’re excited to bolster Freely’s offering with eleven new live channels, including five that will be exclusive to the platform and 5,” noted Kiaran Saunders, the Vice President of Distribution at Five. “Working alongside the other PSBs, we are committed to offering diverse, high-quality content that’s free and accessible to everyone.”
Other channels that are available on Freely come from the portfolios of UKTV (owned by the BBC), AMC Networks and PBS.
