Tastemade, the Los Angeles-based media company that produces and distributes video series involving food, travel, home and culture, has signed on to serve as a presenting co-host of the Los Angeles Wine & Food Festival this year.
The festival will take place in November, and will move from its former home at the Santa Monica Pier to a new location at the Barker Hangar along Airport Avenue in Santa Monica.
The show promises to bring together acclaimed chefs, tastemakers, culinary experts and influencers from across the food, wine and beverage industries.
“We are excited to bring the Los Angeles Wine & Food Festival back this fall with expanded programming and a new home at the Barker Hanger,” said Brett Friedman, the founder and CEO of A21 (stylized as a21), the event’s organizer. L.A. is a unique and vibrant multicultural market with its diverse flavors, and we are committed to curating elevated moments for our guests to enjoy. We are equally enthused to align our brand with Tastemade, an L.A.-based media powerhouse, to help amplify our programming and to help bring to life the most exciting lineup of L.A. chef talent ever.”
“Tastemade has been rooted in Los Angeles since our inception. From our headquarters in Santa Monica to our strong ties to the local food community, this is a natural partnership and an exciting new venture for us,” Larry Fitzgibbon, the co-founder and CEO of Tastemade, said on Monday. “We look forward to partnering with the a21 team, with a track record of creating world-class food experiences across the globe, to build an unforgettable event where food and wine lovers from LA and beyond can break bread together.”
Tastemade is best known for its free, ad-supported streaming TV channels — it operates three — that offers programming based around food, travel, home and culture. Tastemade also distributes content through its own premium platform, and offers a premium service called Tastemade Plus (stylized as Tastemade+), which bundles streaming content with food-focused features like thousands of recipes and customizable shopping lists.
In March, Wonder agreed to acquire Tastemade for $90 million. When the deal closes, Tastemade will share common ownership with other food-focused brands like Blue Apron and Grubhub.
