Local television broadcaster Gray Media has appointed Eric Walters as the General Manager of its duopoly in Monroe, Louisiana.

Starting September 1, Walters will oversee the operations of KNOE-TV (Channel 8, CBS) and KCWL-LD (Channel 40, ABC). He currently serves in the same role at Gray’s CBS and Fox duopoly in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he worked with station leads to grow local newscast ratings and expanded the duopoly’s footprint across multiple digital platforms.

He previously held the role of news director at Gray’s WDBJ (Channel 7, CBS)  Roanoke, Virginia. Under his leadership, WDBJ increased ratings on all platforms, earned back-to-back Edward R. Murrow awards, and launched new programming, including a weekly Spanish-language digital newscast.

He joined the company in 2020 after serving as the news director for WBTW (Channel 13), the Nexstar-owned CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 2019, the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas named him News Director of the Year. Walters earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

“Eric brings a strong track record of leadership and innovation to our stations in Monroe,” Gray Media said in a statement.
