Gracenote, the content data division of Nielsen, has appointed Ryan Moore to serve in the newly-created position of Chief Business Officer, starting next month.

In his new role, Moore will lead all go-to-market operations for Gracenote, overseeing global sales, marketing, and customer and partner experiences. He will also be tasked with aligning those efforts with the company’s product, engineering, and content teams, an organizational bridge intended to fuel growth and sharpen Gracenote’s competitive edge.

“As the leading entertainment data provider, Gracenote has a unique opportunity to help media companies reimagine how they connect audiences with the content they love and deliver cutting edge user experiences,” Moore said in a statement. “I’m excited to bring my deep experience with entertainment and technology to Gracenote to further expand our reach, enhance our offerings and create even greater value for our clients and the consumers they serve.”

Moore joins Gracenote from SuperAwesome, the Epic Games-owned company focused on safe digital engagement for younger audiences, where he served as Global Chief Revenue Officer. At SuperAwesome, he helped brands and content creators leverage 3D technology to build more interactive experiences.

His media résumé also includes senior roles at Twitter, where he was instrumental in growing video product revenue—at one point accounting for more than half of the platform’s overall income—as well as an early leadership stint at mobile streaming startup Quibi. At the latter, Moore built the go-to-market strategy and partner ecosystem prior to its launch.

Gracenote CEO Jared Grusd, who took the helm of the company in early 2024, framed the hire as a critical step in accelerating innovation and commercial growth.

“The media industry is on the cusp of a major transformation driven by AI,” Grusd said. “Ryan’s proven track record building world-class go-to-market motions and scaling through innovative technologies makes him an invaluable asset as Gracenote continues to evolve its content solutions and empower clients to thrive in a rapidly changing industry.”

Long known for its metadata service offerings, Gracenote has evolved to account for shifting audience behaviors that involve more consumption of content on streaming platforms compared to traditional TV. Gracenote has also transformed its products to take advantage of artificial intelligence, personalization and immersive technologies over time.
