Nexstar Media Group has appointed Adam VerCammen as its Senior Vice President of Revenue at its political news brand The Hill, the company announced on Tuesday.
In his new role, VerCammen will oversee day-to-day and long-term revenue growth strategies, including sales, events and product development aimed at expanding The Hill’s audience engagement. He will report directly to Sean Compton, Nexstar’s President of Networks.
“We are incredibly pleased to welcome Adam to The Hill’s senior leadership team,” Compton said in a statement. “His vast experience in sales and revenue growth will be a huge asset to the organization, and we expect him to make an immediate impact.”
VerCammen brings more than two decades of experience in sales, operations and digital strategy. He most recently served as chief revenue officer at the Washington Times, where he was part of the executive leadership team. At the Times, he was responsible for advertising, marketing, circulation and events across print and digital platforms. He led the launch of the outlet’s digital paywall in 2019 and developed new advertising initiatives that generated recurring revenue and positioned the paper for long-term sustainability.
Earlier in his career, VerCammen held a series of leadership roles at Gannett over a 15-year span. He worked at Florida Today, Sightline Media Group (formerly Gannett Government Media) and other properties, helping guide the publisher through a period of industry change by advancing advertising and digital growth.
In his new position, VerCammen is tasked with leveraging Nexstar’s resources to support The Hill’s continued expansion. The outlet has emerged as one of the most-visited U.S. websites for political news and analysis, reaching lawmakers, policymakers, business leaders and an engaged national audience.
“I’m excited to join The Hill and help spearhead its next phase of growth,” VerCammen said. “As the number one digital-first political news brand in the U.S., The Hill reaches an unmatched audience of lawmakers, policymakers, business leaders and engaged citizens across the country. With Nexstar’s scale and resources behind us, we have a tremendous opportunity to expand that leadership and deliver even greater impact for our readers and partners.”
