DIRECTV is adding more than a half-dozen new content channels to its free streaming service MyFree DIRECTV as the no-cost platform celebrates one year in the market.
When it launched last November, MyFree DIRECTV hit the scene with more than 70 premium linear content channels, available to watch without a subscription, marking the company’s first foray into free, ad-supported streaming TV.
Since then, the number of linear content channels has grown to more than 130, with seven new ones being added this week.
The seven new channels include four from AMC Networks, which were part of DIRECTV’s renewed distribution agreement with the cable networks operator in October. The new channels arriving this week are:
- All Reality WeTV: Daring reality series and high-stakes drama. (AMC Networks)
- DAZN Ringside: Short films, documentaries, live undercards and DAZN Boxing Show
- NBA FAST: The free streaming channel from the NBA, with breaking news, documentaries and highlights.
- Portlandia: Replays of the hit IFC show, with similar programming. (AMC Networks)
- Red Bull TV: Pushing the boundaries of sports and culture.
- The Walking Dead Universe: Full-length episodes of the hit AMC Networks series, with extensions like “Dead City” and “Daryl Dixon” added through the schedule. (AMC Networks)
The channels are available through the DIRECTV app for phones, tablets and smart TVs, free of charge. They can also be accessed by customers who have paid Signature or genre-based streaming TV packages, and on Internet-connected satellite set-top boxes.
