Key Points
- Samsung TV Plus surpassed 100 million monthly active users worldwide by the end of 2025, the company said.
- The free, ad-supported service is built into Samsung devices and activates by default on newer smart TVs.
- Samsung positioned the milestone as proof of strong engagement and growing appeal for advertisers.
Samsung says its free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service Samsung TV Plus ended 2025 with more than 100 million monthly active users.
The app offers free access to hundreds of content streams in the U.S. and hundreds more in other countries where Samsung sells its smart TVs, phones and tablets.
In a press release on Wednesday, Samsung touted its free streaming TV service as “one of the most-used streaming apps in the world.” Samsung TV Plus is built into the company’s newer-model smart TVs and activates by default when a customer turns on their TV set, though the behavior can be changed in the settings menu.
Adding to the provenance of Samsung TV Plus is the company’s position as one of the top sellers of premium smart TVs in the United States and other mature consumer markets. In that space, Samsung competes for sales against other manufacturers like LG, TCL, Hisense and Vizio, none of whom offer Samsung TV Plus on their sets.
Samsung doesn’t disclose what channels people are watching on Samsung TV Plus or the average length of a streaming session. Nielsen doesn’t list Samsung TV Plus in its monthly “The Gauge” charts, which offers a top-level snapshot of the channels and apps people watch on TV. (The Roku Channel, a competitor to Samsung TV Plus, is listed on Nielsen’s monthly reports; a version of The Roku Channel’s app is available on Samsung smart TVs.)
Still, Samsung is touting the milestone as proof that Samsung TV Plus is “one of the stickiest and most-effective streaming services for marketers looking to drive meaningful outcomes.” The company sells ad opportunities against the home screen and menus of its smart TVs, and that inventory extends to some channels that Samsung distributes through Samsung TV Plus.
“Our focus remains on delivering premium, authentic experiences that connect our audiences around the world, and [last year’s] breakthrough interactive moments, live events and innovative partnerships show just how powerfully that resonates,” Salek Brodsky, the Senior Vice President and Head of Global at Samsung TV Plus, said on Wednesday.
Brodsky continued: “Surpassing 100 million monthly active users is an extraordinary milestone that reflects the trust our viewers place in Samsung TV Plus and the team’s commitment to providing exceptional entertainment made for every moment.”
