Sinclair, Inc.’s Senior Vice President of Engineering Harvey Arnold will receive the 2026 Television Engineering Achievement Award at an industry trade event in Las Vegas next month, the broadcaster announced on Tuesday.
Arnold joined Sinclair in 1998 and currently oversees transmission engineering operations across the company’s nationwide portfolio of television stations. During his tenure, he has played a key role in guiding broadcasters through the transition to ATSC 3.0, also known as NextGen TV, the next-generation broadcast standard designed to enhance picture quality, improve mobile reception and enable new interactive services.
In that role, Arnold has worked closely with other broadcasters and industry partners to help expand the deployment of ATSC 3.0 technology across the United States.
“Harvey’s vision, technical leadership and relentless pursuit of innovation have helped shape the future of broadcast television,” said Del Parks, the President of Technology at Sinclair. “For more than two decades, he has been instrumental in advancing the technologies that power our industry and enable broadcasters to better serve their communities.”
Parks said the company was “incredibly proud to see Harvey recognized” for his accomplishments and efforts in promoting ATSC 3.0 and other broadcast technologies during his career.
Arnold has also collaborated with industry partners on the development of the Broadcast Positioning System (BPS), a technology designed to provide positioning, navigation and timing services that can complement the Global Positioning System (GPS). As part of that effort, he helped coordinate field testing at Sinclair’s ATSC 3.0 stations to demonstrate the system’s potential applications.
Beyond his work at Sinclair, Arnold has remained active in several industry organizations. He is a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and serves on the group’s Board of Editors. He continues to participate in ATSC, SMPTE, the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE).
Arnold said he was humbled and honored to receive the award.
“Sinclair’s commitment to advancing television technology has been exceptional, and I’m proud to be part of the team,” Arnold affirmed.
