The National Association of Broadcasters has named Carrie Healey as the Vice President of Communications, placing her in a key role overseeing media strategy and public affairs efforts as the organization continues its advocacy work in Washington.
Healey will report to Michelle Lehman, the Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, and will serve as the NAB’s primary spokesperson, the organization said on Tuesday.
In the role, Healey will lead media relations and communications strategy aimed at advancing broadcasters’ policy priorities before Congress and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the NAB affirmed. She will also oversee a communications team that includes Grace Whaley, Director of Communications and Social Media, and Communications Coordinator Judianne Meredith.
Lehman said Healey’s background in public affairs and strategic messaging will support the NAB’s advocacy efforts on behalf of local broadcasters.
“Carrie brings a wealth of expertise in strategic communications and public affairs, along with a deep understanding of the policymaking process that will strengthen our advocacy,” Lehman said in a statement.
Healey joins the NAB from Purple Strategies, where she served as a Client Engagement Lead and developed communications strategies for advocacy and public affairs campaigns across a range of policy issues.
Her prior experience includes serving as Senior Director of External Communications and Media Relations at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she managed national media engagement and messaging initiatives. She also worked on Capitol Hill as Communications Director for Representative Donald Norcross of New Jersey and held senior communications roles on John Delaney’s presidential campaign, including National Press Secretary and Deputy Communications Director.
In addition to her policy and political background, Healey brings experience within the media sector. She previously held roles at AOL, TheGrio and MS NOW (formerly MSNBC).
