The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) is coming to broadcast television through a new distribution agreement with Sinclair, Inc.’s multicast network Comet, the companies announced on Monday.
Under the agreement, the NWA’s weekly flagship program “NWA Powerrr” will debut with a two-episode premiere event on May 1 and May 2. The rollout begins with a Friday prime-time broadcast at 10 p.m., followed by a second original episode Saturday at 4 p.m., with encore presentations scheduled later each evening.
Following the premiere weekend, “NWA Powerrr” will settle into a weekly Saturday time slot at 4 p.m., with encore broadcasts at midnight. The programming slate will also include a multi-episode arc built around the Crockett Cup Tag Team Tournament, beginning May 4 and extending across four episodes.
“Wrestling was meant to bring fans closer to the action,” said Billy Corgan, the frontman of the rock band Smashing Pumpkins and the President of the NWA. “The NWA has always been about storytelling, personality, and passion. This partnership with Sinclair’s Comet TV is the first step in NWA’s push into free television and allows us to reconnect with audiences the way I experienced wrestling growing up, when it was accessible to everyone.”
Corgan asserted Sinclair previously demonstrated “they know how to honor wrestling’s legacy” through its commitment to air the program Ring of Honor.
“Together, we’re bringing that spirit back to fans and families across the country,” Corgan said.
The deal with Sinclair and Comet represents the most-expansive television distribution arrangement for the NWA since Corgan acquired the promotion in 2017. Since its revival, the company has experimented with a range of digital-first distribution partners, including streaming platform FITE, YouTube, the CW Network and The Roku Channel.
By contrast, the Comet agreement emphasizes broad national reach without a paywall, supported by Sinclair’s multicast infrastructure and Signet/Data One technology. The approach aligns with broader industry efforts to reintroduce ad-supported, free-to-view content models as a complement to subscription streaming.
NWA Powerrr is at least the third wrestling program or themed show to air on Comet over the past decade. Ring of Honor previously aired on Comet from 2015 to 2017, when the show moved to its multicast sister network Charge. Comet currently airs the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) documentary “WWE Rivals” from A+E Global Media.
Founded in 1948, the NWA played a central role in shaping modern professional wrestling and served as a platform for some of the industry’s most influential performers, including Ric Flair, Lou Thesz, Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat. Under Corgan’s leadership, the promotion has focused on blending traditional storytelling with new talent development.
The current NWA roster includes emerging performers such as Silas Mason, Carson Drake, Kenzie Paige, Kylie Paige, Tiffany Nieves and Kerry Morton, with programming centered on character-driven narratives and serialized competition formats.
Comet is widely available on broadcast TV in most parts of the country. The network is also offered on DIRECTV, Dish Network, Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, Fubo and YouTube TV, and a free stream of its East Coast feed is available on the Comet website.
