  • Bitmovin has partnered with Simplestream and Xperi to expand streaming services on TiVo OS devices.
  • The collaboration combines playback technology and content management tools into a unified platform for launching services across connected TVs.
  • The solution is designed to reduce technical complexity, lower integration risk and deliver consistent playback experiences for viewers.

Bitmovin has partnered with Simplestream and Xperi to help streaming services launch on TiVo OS smart televisions and devices, the companies announced on Thursday.

The collaboration combines Simplestream’s content management and application framework with Bitmovin’s video playback technology, creating an integrated platform designed to help media companies deliver streaming services across TiVo OS-powered smart TVs and other devices.

Under the partnership, streaming providers will be able to use the combined Bitmovin and Simplestream platform to deliver consistent playback experiences on TiVo OS devices while reducing the complexity involved in launching across additional connected TV platforms, the companies affirmed. The joint solution will help media companies and operators simplify their technology stacks, reduce integration risk and support more reliable playback across devices, they said.

“This collaboration represents an important step forward in simplifying and modernizing OTT delivery for our customers,” said Ashley Reynolds-Horne, the Technical Director at Simplestream. “By combining Simplestream’s end-to-end platform capabilities with Bitmovin’s proven playback technology, we’re enabling media companies and operators to deliver reliable, scalable streaming experiences while unlocking new opportunities for monetization and service growth.”

Bitmovin has also added TiVo OS to its automated testing system. The system uses artificial intelligence analysis to process more than 1 million tests each week, helping identify the causes of playback issues more quickly and improve reliability for streaming services, Bitmovin noted.

The integrated platform also supports monetization tools, including pre-roll advertising and pause ads, along with standardized accessibility features intended to support a broader range of viewers.

James Varndell, the Senior Director of Product Management at Bitmovin, said the partnership will help video providers reach audiences using TiVo OS devices.

“Video providers want their service to be accessible by as many viewers as possible including those running TiVo OS, which is rapidly gaining traction,” Varndell said in a statement on Thursday.

Xperi noted the collaboration will make it easier for streaming services to launch on TiVo OS while maintaining a high-quality viewing experience.

“TiVo OS is designed to put great content front and centre,” said Stephane David, the Senior Director of Content Partnerships and Business Development for EMEA at Xperi. “Collaborating with Bitmovin and Simplestream will help more streaming services to launch on TiVo OS with a high-quality, consistent playback experience, so audiences can find, watch and enjoy more of what they love.”

Bitmovin first added support for TiVo OS in October 2025.
