Charter Communications has named former FBI executive and Delta Air Lines security leader Chris Hacker as its new Head of Corporate Security.
In his new role, Hacker will oversee Charter’s Corporate Physical Security organization, which is responsible for programs designed to protect the company’s employees, facilities and operations across its national footprint. He will also manage Charter’s relationships with law enforcement and public safety agencies while helping guide the company’s broader security strategy, the company said in an announcement on Monday.
Hacker succeeds Jane Rhodes, who is retiring from the company.
“Chris brings an exceptional combination of security leadership, operational experience and public service,” Paul Marchand, the Chief Human Resources Officer at Charter, said in a statement. “His background leading complex security organizations, strengthening partnerships with law enforcement, and building proactive risk management programs makes him the right leader to guide Charter’s Corporate Security organization into the future.”
Hacker joins Charter after serving as the Director of Corporate Security Programs, Executive Protection & Investigations at Delta Air Lines. In that role, he led global security frameworks supporting more than 200,000 employees and contractors, with responsibility for executive protection, insider risk, investigations, security technology and crisis management programs.
At Delta, Hacker helped modernize security operations, strengthen executive and event security programs and implement enhanced access control, visitor management and response capabilities.
Before joining Delta, Hacker spent more than two decades with the FBI, where he held several senior leadership roles. He served as Special Agent in Charge in Atlanta, overseeing more than 700 personnel across national security, intelligence, criminal investigations, cybercrime and crisis response.
Hacker also served as the Deputy Assistant Director, Acting Assistant Director and Chief of Staff during his FBI career. In those roles, he oversaw major investigative operations, advised senior government officials on criminal policy and strategy and helped modernize crisis response capabilities.
Charter is one of the largest cable and broadband providers in the United States, serving residential and business customers through its Spectrum brand. The company’s corporate security operations cover a wide range of facilities, field operations and employee safety programs tied to its telecommunications and media businesses.
