
Quickplay is launching “Live Operations,” a cloud-native control plane designed to centralize management of live broadcast and streaming channels, the company announced on Thursday.
The product, which will be publicly demonstrated during an upcoming industry conference, gives operators one console for scheduling, signal control, ad decisioning, clip production, monitoring and observability. Quickplay said the system is intended for broadcasters, streaming operators, free streaming TV channel owners, news organizations, sports rights holders and multi-channel operators managing simultaneous feeds.
The company is positioning Live Operations as a way to reduce reliance on disconnected systems that handle scheduling, signal management, ad breaks and clipping separately. Quickplay said that kind of fragmentation can slow response times during live programming, particularly when technical problems occur or when ad cues, fallback feeds or live-to-VOD workflows need immediate attention.
“Many broadcasters today use AI to do smart things in metadata, in packaging, in ad decisioning, each creating individual value, yet completely disconnected from the others,” Paul Pastor, the co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Quickplay, said in a statement on Thursday. “AI at a single step creates value. But AI orchestrated across every step, across an entire broadcast network, creates compounding value.”
Live Operations includes scheduler and EPG management, allowing operators to manage metadata, live events, VOD assets, slates and replays from a centralized interface. The system can flag unscheduled gaps and schedule conflicts before content goes live.
The platform also provides live channel and signal control, including input switching, slate insertion, fallback triggering, stream acquisition and channel start-and-stop operations. For ad-supported channels, Live Operations includes SCTE-35 ad break management and real-time metadata visibility to support ad decisioning.
Quickplay said the system can provide automated fallback protection when a live input drops below configured health thresholds. In those cases, Live Operations can route output to a pre-configured looped VOD fallback asset without operator intervention. Operators can also trigger fallback manually.
The platform’s Live-to-VOD and Clip Factory feature uses AI to analyze live event recordings, including newscasts, and package them into branded short clips with metadata for distribution, verticalization and syndication. Monitoring and observability tools provide real-time visibility into the live delivery chain through a unified dashboard.

Live Operations is part of Quickplay’s Content to Value Operating System, which connects digital media production and monetization workflows across five engines: Stream, Enrich, Activate, Engage and Maximize. The new product sits within Stream, which supports live, VOD, catch-up and virtual channels.
