The former top boss at local television broadcaster TEGNA has traded media for digital home services.
Last month, Michael Steib was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Angi, the hospitality marketplace where he already served as a board director, the company announced in a press release.
In his new role, Steib will oversee the company’s executive leadership, corporate strategy and daily operations. He succeeds Jeff Kip in the role, and the transition will also see Executive Chairman Joey Levin move into a Chairman position on Angi’s board.

“Mike is bringing enormous energy and spot-on experience to Angi,” Levin said in a statement. “His palpable excitement for the brand and the product will be quickly apparent to Angi’s customers, and the opportunities Mike sees in our current AI landscape are invigorating.”
Steib said artificial intelligence will be a central component of his strategy, with the company seeking to improve its services for homeowners and contractors while identifying opportunities to increase profitability.
“We’re going to use the revolutionary power of AI to make our products better for both, and we’re going to move with urgency,” Steib affirmed. “I see real opportunities for upsides in profitability in the near-term.”
Steib served as the CEO of TEGNA until March, when the company was acquired by Nexstar Media Group after securing fast-tracked approvals from federal regulators. TEGNA is operating independent of TEGNA by court order as the companies fight a prolonged antitrust case brought by DIRECTV and several state attorneys general over its combination.
