Rachel Stockman has been promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer of Law&Crime Network, succeeding company founder Dan Abrams as the legal news and true-crime media business continues expanding its streaming television and digital programming operations.
Stockman, who previously served as President of Law&Crime, assumes the top executive position after more than a decade with the company. Abrams will remain Chairman of Law&Crime while continuing his work as Chief Legal Analyst for ABC News.
Law&Crime has been owned since 2023 by Jellysmack, a holding company focused on creator-led media businesses.
The leadership change follows a period of expansion for Law&Crime, including its acquisition of Court TV from the E.W. Scripps Company earlier this year.
Stockman played a leading role in the acquisition and has overseen the company’s expansion across streaming television, digital video and original programming. She initially joined Law&Crime as Editor-in-Chief before being promoted to President, taking on broader responsibilities for the company’s editorial operations and business strategy.
During her tenure, Stockman has executive produced dozens of documentaries and television series for major streaming and cable networks, including Netflix, Paramount Plus, A&E, Fox Nation and HBO Max/Investigation Discovery.
Earlier this fall, she oversaw the launch of “Partners in Crime,” a programming initiative featuring six original series developed in collaboration with prominent true-crime content creators.
Law&Crime currently operates four free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels and several subscription channels on YouTube. The company’s programming has generated billions of video views and more than 700 million hours of viewing across platforms during the past year, according to figures provided by Law&Crime.
“Rachel’s ability to direct the business at the highest level while also making so many smart, granular decisions has helped lead us to where we are today,” Abrams said in a statement on Friday. “She has truly earned this. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.”
Stockman credited the company’s employees for its growth and said she intends to continue expanding its programming and distribution operations.
“I’m honored to lead this next chapter as we continue to push boundaries, embrace bold ideas and help shape the future of media,” Stockman said.
