Delta Air Lines has launched a new subscription marketplace tied to its loyalty program that allows frequent fliers to score complementary subscriptions to streaming video apps and newspapers.
The program allows Delta Air Lines SkyMiles reward members to redeem miles in exchange for access to apps like the New York Times and Paramount Plus, with other apps coming in the near future.
The program was spotted by The Desk after receiving an offer from Delta Air Lines to exchange miles for subscriptions through the SkyMiles marketplace. At launch, the program offers complementary subscriptions in exchange for miles to four products:

- The New York Times: 12-month subscription for 25,000 miles
- The Wall Street Journal: 12-month subscription for 25,000 miles
- Paramount Plus with Showtime: 12-month subscription for 15,000 miles
- Fox One: Six-month subscription for 15,000 miles, or 12 months for 20,000 miles
Fox One, the Wall Street Journal and Paramount Plus allow SkyMiles members to “gift” access to their subscription instead of using it for themselves, while the New York Times requires the primary account holder to use it. The Times subscription includes access to Games, Cooking, Audio, Wirecutter and The Athletic in addition to the newspaper’s original daily news headlines.
The Paramount Plus subscription includes access to a live streaming feed of a user’s local CBS station or affiliate, plus content from Showtime and commercial-free viewing of on-demand content and movies. while the Fox One subscription includes access to a user’s local Fox station or affiliate, streaming simulcasts of Fox News, Fox Weather, Fox Sports and Fox Business; and select programming from Fox Nation.
Subscriptions to Paramount Plus, the Wall Street Journal and Fox One require a customer to enter a credit card, which is only charged when the subscription is renewed. The New York Times subscription does not require a credit card on file.
The Delta Air Lines SkyMiles marketplace rolled out in mid-October, according to marketing materials reviewed by The Desk. It wasn’t clear when the company intends to offer additional subscriptions in the future.
In addition to booking flights directly through Delta Air Lines, the company allows passengers to earn miles in other ways. Travelers who book with their Delta SkyMiles American Express card tend to receive additional miles on top of whatever they might earn on a given flight. SkyMiles can also be earned by shopping with certain partners, including Starbucks and Uber Eats.
