The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has affirmed plans to offer a handful of live events from the Wimbledon Championships in ultra high-definition (UHD/4K).

The UHD/4K version of the matches will stream live through BBC iPlayer, which is available on a number of supported devices and platforms. All popular connected TV platforms, including Android TV and Amazon’s Fire TV, are supported, as well as set-top boxes offered by pay TV companies like Sky, Vodafone and BT.

Center Court events will be available in UHD/4K, the broadcaster said, while all live events will be offered through BBC iPlayer.

The BBC holds the domestic telecast rights to the Wimbledon tournament in the United Kingdom, with select live events made available through BBC One and BBC Two. While those matches have been offered in high definition for some time, the BBC has no dedicated UHD/4K channel, which relegates that content to iPlayer on an exclusive basis.

The BBC first began offering Wimbledon matches in UHD/4K in 2021.
