Paramount Global has struck a licensing deal with the Walt Disney Company that will see 20th Television’s hit animated sitcom “Family Guy” land on Comedy Central in September.
The deal will give Comedy Central a handful of grown-up cartoons to keep fans giggling throughout the day, with Family Guy joining other programs like “Futurama” (Disney) and Paramount’s own “South Park” and “Beavis and Butt-Head.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Trade publication Deadline was the first to report the news.
Comedy Central will debut Family Guy with a marathon on Labor Day before moving the show to its prime-time programming block on September 3.
“We are excited to welcome Family Guy to Comedy Central joining the best in adult animation alongside South Park, Futurama, and Beavis and Butt-Head, among others,” Laurel Weir, the Executive Vice President and Head of Programming at Paramount Media Networks, said in a statement. “Delivering bold, irreverent and culturally impactful content to our fans is our top priority, which makes Family Guy the perfect complement to our robust adult animation slate.”
Comedy Central is available on cable and satellite TV platforms across the country, and on some streaming cable-like service, including Philo.
