Peloton has updated its Internet-connected exercise equipment to support more entertainment options for fitness buffs, including Amazon Kindle e-books and streaming TV channels from DirecTV Stream.
Starting this week, Peloton is pushing out a software update that will enhance the “Entertainment” menu on certain equipment, including Peloton Bike, Peloton Bike Plus, Peloton Tread and Peloton Treadmill Plus.
“For avid readers and fitness enthusiasts, the struggle to balance a good book with a good workout is real,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. “Amazon now brings the Kindle reading experience to select Peloton products with e-books for every type of reader, seamlessly and conveniently combining a love of reading with a passion for exercise.”
Amazon Kindle users in six countries — the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Canada and Australia — will be able to find their e-book library by tapping the “Entertainment” tab on the screen affixed to their Peloton bike or treadmill.
Additionally, Peloton users in the United States can now stream live TV if they subscribe to DirecTV Stream. The feature gives Peloton users access to more than 90 broadcast and cable channels — including major network affiliates like ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and the CW, along with PBS member stations in most areas and cable networks like ESPN, Cartoon Network, CNN, Fox News, HGTV and Comedy Central — starting at $80 per month. New DirecTV Stream customers who sign up for service by clicking or tapping this link can get the “Entertainment” package for just $50 per month for three months, or choose among DirecTV Stream’s other packages with more channels for similar discounts.
Whether they’re reading an e-book or watching live TV, Peloton will continue to offer workout routines and personalized guidance for fitness buffs through their connected bikes and treadmills. Peloton bikes and treadmills can be purchased on Amazon by clicking or tapping this link.
