Paramount Global says it has reached a contract extension with Jon Stewart, who will continue to fill in as the host of “The Daily Show” on Mondays through the end of next year.
After a multi-year absence, Stewart reprised his role as host of the comedy news program earlier this year, agreeing to work on Mondays through the November election.
This week, Paramount and Stewart affirmed he will continue hosting the Monday episode of the show through the end of 2025, though Stewart joked that he would have preferred to host “every other Monday.”
“His ability to cut through the noise and deliver clear-eyed insights is exactly what we need, which is why we are thrilled to have him leading The Daily Show for another year,” Chris McCarthy, the co-CEO of Paramount Global whose primary oversight involves the company’s cable networks, said in a statement.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Comedy Central. (The show does not tape on Fridays.) Episodes stream on Paramount Plus one day after they air on television.
