Political affairs network C-SPAN will offer at least 17 hours of uninterrupted, commercial-free coverage of the 2024 presidential election and key U.S. House and U.S. Senate races across the country next week.
The network’s coverage will start Tuesday, November 5 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and last through at least Wednesday afternoon, The Desk has learned. C-SPAN’s coverage will differentiate itself from the commercial news networks by providing real-time reporting on the outcome of the races, without political punditry. Instead, it will feature real-time reaction from voters who call in to C-SPAN’s hotlines, similar to the network’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention, Republican National Convention and similar events.
The commercial-free event will be hosted by Greta Brawner, Peter Slen, Tammy Thueringer, Pedro Echevarria and John McArdle. Political analysts Kirk Bado (“The Hotline”) and Evan McMorris-Santoro (“NOTUS”) will help explain the balance of power in Congress as key races are decided. A team of reporters will provide on-the-ground coverage from battleground states, including Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
C-SPAN will also carry coverage of victory and acceptance speeches from the leading candidates for president, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, whenever those speeches are delivered. It will also offer nearly two dozen victory and concession speeches from gubernatorial and congressional candidates throughout the country.
C-SPAN’s Election Night coverage is available on cable and satellite partners that help provide financial support to the channel, including Comcast (Xfinity), Charter (Spectrum TV), Altice USA (Optimum), Dish Network and DirecTV, and through the streaming service DirecTV.
C-SPAN’s coverage will be free to stream without a cable or satellite login via the C-SPAN website, app and YouTube channel during Election Night. An audio simulcast of C-SPAN’s coverage will be carried on the C-SPAN FM radio channel in Washington, D.C. and the C-SPAN Radio channel on SiriusXM satellite and streaming radio.
C-SPAN’s Election Night coverage will be produced by Political Editor Nate Hurst. C-SPAN 2 will simulcast Spectrum News Plus throughout the evening.
