FilmRise has inked a deal with Bloomberg that allows the entertainment firm to distribute a handful of original television shows via Amazon’s Prime Video platform, the companies announced this week.
The shows are from Bloomberg Originals, the financial news channel’s brand for short-form TV series that the company has offered through its flagship business channel and free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel, also called Bloomberg Originals, for some time.
As part of the agreement, FilmRise will distribute a total of 18 series from Bloomberg Originals via Prime Video, including shows like “The Optimist’s Guide to the Planet,” “The Deal with Alex Rodriguez” and “Circuit with Emily Chang.”
Eleven shows are now available on the Prime Video platform, and another seven are coming before the second half of the year, the companies affirmed.
“We are thrilled that Bloomberg has selected FilmRise to distribute their content on one of the leading global streaming platforms,” Jonitha Keymoore, the Head of Content at FilmRise, said in a statement. “This deal underscores our commitment to quality, efficiency, and recognizes our superior capabilities in distributing content to high-profile streaming platforms like Amazon, a long-standing partner of FilmRise.”
Bloomberg will continue to distribute its own programming via the Bloomberg Originals FAST channel, which streams on Prime Video and a number of other platforms.
