Sports-focused streamer Fubo and international sports streaming platform DAZN will distribute each other’s linear sports channels on their respective services, the companies announced on Tuesday.
The sports brands said the cross-distribution agreement announced this week is the first of many partnerships that will tap into Fubo and DAZN’s market positions in the coming years.
Starting today, Fubo will offer DAZN’s domestic sports programming through a near linear channel called DAZN 1. At the same time, DAZN will add the free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel Fubo Sports Network to their platform.
While Fubo Sports will be a free offering for DAZN subscribers, DAZN 1 won’t be free to access on Fubo — sports fans will have to pay for the privilege of accessing the channel, either as an add-on to a traditional Fubo TV package, or as an a-la-carte offering.
“Fubo and DAZN’s partnership delivers more premium sports to fans, wherever they choose to watch,” said David Gandler, the co-founder and CEO of Fubo. “Adding DAZN’s unmatched fight content enhances our sports entertainment lineup while offering customers greater flexibility. We’re also excited to expand our FAST channel, Fubo Sports, through DAZN and explore further opportunities with Shay and his team.”
“Our deal with Fubo enables DAZN to increase access to top-tier sports content for fans in the U.S. and Canada, as we continue to provide the ultimate sports entertainment experience,” Shay Segev, the CEO of DAZN Group, said on Tuesday. “Fubo’s viewers can now watch the world’s leading fight talent compete in unmissable events as part of a new DAZN premium fight package. Meanwhile, the launch of Fubo Sports on the DAZN platform will be an exciting addition to our ever-expanding portfolio of premium sports content.”
