Pay television provider DirecTV is partnering with the Bob Woodruff Foundation to assist veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families through nationwide, community-based programs, the companies said on Monday.
Through the partnership, DirecTV will support the foundation’s “Got Your 6 Network,” a national initiative that connects veterans with local organizations providing health, housing, employment, and financial assistance. The satellite and streaming television provider says the partnership will enable it to participate in year-round programming aimed at improving the well-being of military-affiliated individuals across the country.
“By integrating military and veteran support into our broader community engagement strategy, we ensure that our values align with real-world impact, and working with the Bob Woodruff Foundation opens the door to a greater network of military initiatives,” said Jon Greer, the top executive in charge of communications and community at DirecTV. “DirecTV is honored to contribute to the organization’s unwavering mission in supporting the overall health and wellbeing of veterans, service members and their families.”
The deal includes DirecTV’s involvement in several high-profile events tied to the foundation, including sponsorship of the Stand Up for Heroes Military Appreciation Dinner and the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s annual gala and concert, both scheduled for this November in New York City.
Anne Marie Dougherty, CEO of the Bob Woodruff Foundation, said DirecTV’s involvement would help expand the reach of its support network across all 50 states.
“We are extremely grateful and honored to work with DirecTV, a driven team that shares our passion and deep respect for the sacrifices made by our veterans and military families,” Dougherty said. “DirecTV’s support allows us to expand our Got Your 6 network of boots-on-the-ground local partners delivering vital support to veterans and their families in all 50 states. We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with DirecTV as we have the backs of those who have given so much to our country.”
The move comes as a growing number of U.S. corporations seek to align with veteran-focused nonprofits amid rising public attention to the challenges faced by post-September 11, 2001 service members and their families.
