Charter Communications has launched a new subscription management platform that aims to promote the various included streaming apps that are available to its Spectrum TV subscribers.
The new platform, called Seamless Entertainment, is available through the My Spectrum app for phones and tablets and through the Spectrum website, and allows customers with Spectrum TV Select packages to activate nearly a dozen streaming apps that are included in their plan.
The apps include the ad-supported tiers of Peacock, Paramount Plus, HBO Max, Vix Premium, AMC Plus, Disney Plus and Hulu, and will soon include ESPN Unlimited and the ad-light tiers of Discovery Plus and BET Plus.
Charter says customers save around $100 per month by activating ad-supported streaming apps that are included with their Spectrum TV Select service. Customers can also upgrade to the ad-free plans of certain streaming apps and pay the difference based on the retail price of those services. Those who upgrade will be charge on the same bill as their Spectrum TV subscription, which the company says is a convenient way to pay for multiple video products on a single bill.
It isn’t just Spectrum TV subscribers who have access to Seamless Entertainment: Spectrum Internet customers will also be able to activate and manage streaming video subscriptions through the platform, though they will be charged the full retail price. Still, Charter notes the convenience of having several streaming apps billed to a single account.
Spectrum TV and Spectrum Internet subscribers can learn more about the streaming apps available to them through the company’s Seamless Entertainment platform by clicking or tapping here.
The launch of Seamless Entertainment comes about a week after peer telecom Comcast rolled out a subscription management platform of its own. Called “StreamStore,” the platform allows Xfinity TV and Xfinity Internet subscribers to buy access to a large number of streaming apps, and take advantage of unique bundles like its “StreamSaver” package, which pairs Netflix, Apple TV Plus and Peacock for $15 per month.
Charter and Comcast operate a joint venture called Xumo, which develops connected TV (CTV) technology with a focus on streaming. While Comcast’s StreamStore is accessible through the Xumo platform, it isn’t clear when Charter’s Seamless Entertainment will come to those devices, though Charter said customers who activate apps through Seamless Entertainment can watch content using the Xumo Stream Box.
