Hearst Television has hired its current Director of Digital Strategy to serve as the News Director at its television station in New Hampshire.

Brian Doyle will join WMUR (Channel 9, ABC) in Manchester on August 13, the company announced in a press release.

“Brian is already deeply connected to WMUR’s tradition of editorial excellence and is very well known to WMUR colleagues, having worked on several projects with our team here over the last several years,” Alisha McDevitt, WMUR’s General Manager, said in a statement. “He brings valuable experience as a journalist who understands the importance of localism. Brian’s expertise in producing news content across multiple platforms, as well as team leadership, will be critical as our audience increasingly diversifies the way they receive news and information.”

Since joining Hearst Television in 2021, Doyle has led strategic digital initiatives across the company’s stations, including WMUR. His contributions have included the expansion of the station’s political coverage on digital and social platforms and the streaming launch of “Fritz Wetherbee’s New Hampshire” on WMUR’s website and Hearst’s Very Local platform.

Previously, Doyle held digital leadership roles at WESH-TV (Channel 2, NBC) in Orlando, Florida, including digital media manager and digital editor. He began his career at KHSL-TV (Channel 12, CBS) in Chico, California, where he rose to become the station’s online producer.
