Fox Entertainment has acquired an equity stake in Holywater, a production company that creates short-form scripted microdramas and vertical videos powered by artificial intelligence.
The partnership will see Fox and Holywater co-develop original vertical video series, including projects based on Fox’s existing intellectual property. Financial details were not disclosed. Both companies said development deals with top Hollywood talent will be announced soon.
Holywater operates several platforms including My Drama, a streaming service for scripted microdramas, and My Muse, which specializes in generative AI video content. It also owns My Passion, described as the leading independent digital-book publishing platform among American and European firms. Together, Holywater’s apps have surpassed 55 million downloads.
Fox Entertainment Studios plans to produce more than 200 original titles for My Drama over the next two years as part of the new collaboration. The first two projects, “Billionaire Blackmail” and “Bound by Obsession,” are already in production in Atlanta. The companies indicated that future projects could include titles from Fox-owned brands such as Gordon Ramsay’s production outfit and animation house Bento Box Entertainment.
“Innovation in digital storytelling is shaping the future of entertainment and investing in vertical video positions Fox Entertainment to achieve sustained long-term growth as we build a modern studio for the future,” said Rob Wade, the CEO of Fox Entertainment. “Holywater is at the forefront of this evolution, skillfully using technology to fuel creativity. This partnership is all about finding different, innovative ways to tell stories and inspire storytellers and creators like never before, while giving us the tools and flexibility to bring talent ideas to life faster, smarter and across more platforms worldwide.”
Holywater co-founders and co-CEOs Bogdan Nesvit and Anatolii Kasianov said the partnership will help expand the reach and sophistication of vertical storytelling.
“Vertical streaming is one of the fastest-growing areas in entertainment, and our goal at Holywater is to make vertical series mainstream by raising the bar on quality and widening the genre slate,” the co-CEOs said on Thursday. “We’ve been focusing on storytelling depth to prove that verticals can carry premium drama, thriller, romance and more — not just a narrow set of tropes. Our partnership with Fox Entertainment validates that vision and gives us the scale and creative firepower to accelerate it.”
The move builds on Fox Corporation’s broader investments in creator-driven production models. In June, Fox announced The Lighthouse, a studio and collaborative campus for digital creators. The Holywater deal is expected to extend that strategy through Fox Entertainment’s existing facilities at the Fox Studios Lot in Century City.
