Comcast-owned pay television service Sky will stop offering its interactive platform Sky Live in December, slightly more than two years after it first became available to customers.
The platform allows users to interact with their Sky Glass smart television sets by way of a top-mounted camera, which connected to certain live programming and games offered by the satellite and streaming TV service operator.
Comcast did not offer a reason why it was pulling the plug on Sky Live, but said customers who purchased a camera for Sky Glass will be offered compensation through a refund. The company said customers won’t have to return the camera to receive the refund.
The decision to wind down Sky Live will allow Comcast to focus on investing in “faster, simpler products, unbeatable content and brilliant service,” a spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.
Customers with Sky Live cameras will be able to use the platform until it closes for good in December.
