  • Sunbeam Television broke ground on a new Miramar facility that will house WSVN and WDFL as both stations continue serving the Miami market.
  • The eight-acre site will include studios, production centers and offices, with the building expected to open by January 2027.
  • Executives say the move expands operational capacity and supports long-term growth, modernization and stronger local news service.

Sunbeam Television has broken new ground on a new facility for its two Miami television stations as it relocates its operations to the community of Miramar.

City officials, community leaders and special guests gathered on site at the location of the new facility along the 11000 block of Marks Way, where the new business offices and TV studios of WSVN (Channel 7, Fox) and WDFL-LD (Channel 18, ABC) will be located.

Both stations will continue to serve the Miami market. WDFL grabbed the ABC affiliation from competing station WPLG (Channel 10) in August. The stations are currently operating from North Bay Village.

Sunbeam Properties & Development, a real estate company that is co-owned with Sunbeam Television, owns the land that houses the Miramar Park of Commerce, which will include the building that houses WSVN and WDFL in the coming years.

“We’re building more than a television studio here at the Miramar Park of Commerce — this is an investment in the future of local news and in the South Florida community we’ve served for over six decades,” Andy Ansin, the President & CEO of Sunbeam Television and Sunbeam Properties & Development, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ansin continued: “Miramar offers the accessibility, infrastructure and business environment we need to continue innovating and delivering the trusted, fast-paced news coverage viewers expect from 7 News. The new facility will allow us to grow, modernize and remain deeply connected to the region we call home.”

The building will be located on a parcel of land that spans eight acres. Two broadcast studios, production centers and administrative offices will be located within it, with the building expected to be in service by January 2027.

Miller Construction is the general contractor for the project, with Rees Architects serving as the architectural designer.

“Expanding our operations in Miramar strengthens how we run the business and how we serve viewers across FOX 7 and ABC 18,” said James Ansin, the co-President and General Manager of Sunbeam Television. “This new facility gives our teams the space, technology and flexibility to work more efficiently, support our partners, and continue raising the bar for local news in South Florida.”
