Audacy has reached a new distribution and advertising sales agreement with the MeidasTouch Network, adding one of the largest left-leaning political talk brands in podcasting to its growing spoken-word portfolio.
The deal begins September 1, when Audacy will take over distribution and ad sales for “The MeidasTouch Podcast.” The timing places the partnership at the start of a busier period for political advertising tied to the midterm election cycle.
“The MeidasTouch Podcast” will continue to be available across major podcast platforms and on YouTube. New episodes are released Tuesday and Friday mornings, with additional news updates posted multiple times each day.
Libsyn, which most recently handled advertising sales for the network, says “The MeidasTouch Podcast” averages 525,000 downloads per episode and 2 million impressions per week. The company says 82 percent of that reach comes from YouTube video episodes.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the MeidasTouch Network to Audacy — this partnership underscores the momentum behind our podcast business and further accelerates our growth,” Leah Reis-Dennis, the Head of Podcasts at Audacy, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Reis-Dennis called MeidasTouch “a powerhouse in independent media with unmatched scale and audience engagement” and said Audacy’s sales team will help create new opportunities for advertising partners.
Brothers Ben, Brett and Jordan Meiselas launched the MeidasTouch Network in 2020. Earlier this year, the company completed its first fundraising round, led by Soros Fund Management. The investment firm, associated with George Soros, is also a major investor in Audacy.
